EXW Yiwu and FOB Ningbo are not simply different ways to quote freight. They define where delivery occurs, when risk changes hands and which logistics steps each party is expected to coordinate.
EXW means the seller makes goods available at the agreed place, such as a factory or warehouse in Yiwu. The buyer normally arranges collection, loading, domestic transport, export handling and onward shipping unless the order states otherwise. Write the exact handover address rather than only “EXW Yiwu”.
FOB Ningbo is used for sea or inland-waterway shipments. Under the agreed version of Incoterms, the seller delivers when the goods are placed on board the buyer-nominated vessel at the named port. The buyer normally arranges the main carriage and takes risk after the agreed delivery point. Confirm the port, vessel or freight-forwarder cut-off, domestic transport scope, export documentation and any terminal charges.
EXW may suit buyers who have a reliable Yiwu forwarder, consolidate goods from several suppliers or want full control over the logistics chain. FOB may suit buyers who want the factory to coordinate the domestic leg to Ningbo within a clearly agreed scope. Neither term is automatically cheaper: compare total costs to the same delivery point.
For containerised cargo, goods may be handed to a carrier or terminal before being loaded on a vessel. In that case, the appropriate term can depend on the actual handover process. Discuss the logistics flow with the contract parties and freight forwarder before deciding.
For an RFQ to Chenqi Clothing, include the style, quantity, size and colour ratio, destination market, target delivery date, requested trade term and freight-forwarder details. Ask which costs are included, the exact delivery location, sample and production timeline, and what documentation each side will provide. The final allocation should be written into the order or contract.
